How do I engage your services?

Before commencing a private investigation we discuss with clients what the aims and objectives of the investigation are. We also establish a budget and whether we are able to achieve the desired result for the client within that budget.

In some instances our clients establish a budget in order to carry out initial enquiries. Once these initial enquiries are complete we report back to our client with a recommendation as to whether it is worth carrying out further enquiries based on whether we think we can obtain the outcome they desire. At this stage we will also give an indication of the costs involved in carrying out further work.

Upon completion of our enquiries we provide a full report to our client detailing the enquiries we have made as well as the outcome of the investigation.

Are your private investigations confidential?

We will only give out information about you if we have a duty to do so by law. Otherwise you can be assured than any information you give us will be kept completely confidential.

We will not keep your information for any longer than is necessary and will take steps to ensure that it is kept up to date. You have a right under the Data Protection Act 1998 to ask what information we hold about you.

Your confidentiality is guaranteed to be our highest priority.

Will the person I am tracing know that I am looking for them?

Nobody should ever be able tell that they are being investigated by our private detectives. Our services are completely private and confidential.

Is it legal?

Yes. Dunedin Associates has access to a wide variety of databases and other sources of information. None of the resources you will access through our service are illegal.

How long does it take?

This really does depend on the service required. We always give a rough estimate of the timings involved during our initial consultation.

What are your payment terms?

We are happy to accept payments via Cheque, Bank Transfer or Online Payment methods.

What guarantee is there?

Our goal with each case is to meet and exceed our clients stated objectives through an accurate, professional, thorough and cost effective investigation.

We do our best to provide the highest quality investigative resources, however sometimes it may simply not be possible find the results that you are looking for.

How do you find people?

In addition to using the regular data base services available to most private investigators and information providers we have developed our own proprietary databases and sources.

We also, whenever possible, attempt to contact associates, friends, neighbours, employers, creditors and others that may have knowledge of the subject.

What information do you need?

This depends on the private investigation service that is required.

For example, if we were being asked to locate a missing person we would like to know any or all of the following:

• Full name
• Last known address
• Date of birth
• The names of relatives, previous employers and friends
• Drivers license number.

How soon can you start?

We endeavour to start work on your case soon as you contact us and we have received your instructions, whether verbal or in writing.

What areas do you cover?

We are based near Edinburgh so can provide services throughout Scotland eg the Lothians, Scottish Borders, Fife & Kinross, Perthshire, Lanarkshire. However we can also provide coverage throughout the rest of the UK.

We have an extensive network of agents located internationally - allowing Dunedin Associates to work anywhere in the world.

What hours do you work?

Our office typically operates a five day, 0900 - 1700 hours, week. However the nature of our business often leads us to work whatever hours are required by the task in hand.
